Decorate The Tree Phonology is a fun Christmas-themed activity to get your kids away from the table & moving around a little bit while practicing their phonological targets! It contains 240 stimulus cards, as well as blank cards to use with any target.
Stimulus pictures target the following phonological processes: stopping, fronting, cluster reduction, syllable deletion, & final consonant deletion. Cluster reduction cards include cards to target s, l, and r blends at the beginning of words.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Print the Christmas tree on pp3-6. Laminate and assemble pages together. Another idea is to cut a large tree out of green bulletin board paper and laminate that, if you have the paper and a large laminator available at your place of employment. Print, laminate, and cut out light/ornament stimulus cards on pp7-21. Blank ornaments/lights are included on p22 and gift box images to place under the tree are included on p23.
Option 1: Once the tree scene is assembled & laminated, lay it on the floor. Have students pick a light or ornament card, say the word, and then lay it anywhere on the tree to decorate it. Students may also place presents under the tree.
Option 2: Once the tree scene is assembled & laminated, tape it to a wall or the back of the door. Place Velcro pieces throughout the tree & below the tree, and also place Velcro pieces on the backs of the light/ornament/gift box cards. After students say a word, they can place their lights, ornaments, or gift boxes around the scene.
