Are your students having a hard time getting their mind and bodies ready for learning after recess or lunch? Do you need a quick brain break without any prep that takes just minutes?
Research has shown that children who participate in breathing exercises have a greater capacity for learning and being engaged in academics. I have created a handy reference chart that includes 8 imagination scenarios to get your kids deep breathing!
Studies also show that students will participate in meditations and breathing exercises with much more enthusiasm and vigor when their imagination is engaged. So let's all take 5 minutes to pretend, and breathe! Get ready to blow candles, wind chimes, soup and more...This is designed for the younger- primary grade student.
I practice one imaginative technique a week each morning. Rehearsing breathing techniques when your students are not elevated will give them the familiarity so when they really do need to breathe deep, they already have the skill set.
Research also has proven time and time again that breathing is a great tool for mindfulness, and supports SEL! Document is editable so you can add your own!
Take 5 min a day to use this one page cheat sheet after recess or lunch to get your kids ready for learning!
