Product Description
Just in time for the holidays! 'Tis the season of parties and activities. Keep your students engaged and on track with standards-based writing. In addition to using the craftivity to display student writing, use it for other festive activities. Add on a red nose, and you've got Rudolph!

Use the following instructional activities to build research, informative, narrative and imaginative writing skills. These activities are aligned with Common Core State ELA Standards.

Deer Text Connections I've given you a list of text connections to enrich your unit.

Deer Families Teach your students the gender specific names of adult deer and their babies.

Deer Terms As your students learn about the characteristics of deer, they will also be acquiring some new vocabulary. I’ve provided a set of diagrams with labels for deer, including an activity page for the students to do.

Research Graphic Organizer Teach your student how to take notes as they learn facts about deer. Using a simple graphic organizer, students will write what deer “are,” “can,” "do," “have,” and “need”, and record an interesting fact. Make the chart interactive by gluing a liftable flap over the top of each box.

Informative Writing Once your students have taken notes, they can transform their deer facts into sentences and paragraphs using the draft, editing, and neat sheet templates. 3-guide lines for developing (K-1st) writers and single lines for more experienced (2nd-3rd) writers are included

Narrative Writing Have students write a deer story, using the the writing process. I’ve provided rough draft, editing, and neat sheets with 3-guide lines for developing (K-1st) writers, and with single lines for more experienced (2nd-3rd) writers.

Imaginative Writing Have students write to the prompt, “If I were a deer, I would...” I’ve provided 3-guide lines for developing (K-1st) writers, and with single lines for more experienced (2nd-3rd) writers.

Craftivity Have students make a deer craftivity to display written work.
