This PBL teaches students about racism and discrimination through a research project that ends in them creating a reflective product. This PBL would work for English and Reading classes, as well as a Social Studies class. It can be used alongside a novel as a companion project. Students begin by researching discriminated groups or people throughout history or in present day. They then create a product that reflects their research, but is creative and inspired. The medium of the product is up to them. They could do anything from a scrapbook to a series of paintings. As long as they find a way to reflect their research, such as placards next to the paintings, they can complete this project any way they choose.
