Prezi is a great alternative to Powerpoint presentations in your classroom. These presentations feature fluid animation that captures your students' attention. Overall, I have found these presentations to be far more effective than a standard presentation in my classes.
Here is a link to a SHORTENED, PREVIEW version of the Prezi. Please copy and paste the following link into your browser for a preview of animation:
This particular prezi is a lecture activity that I use while teaching Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five, but it could be used as an introductory activity for any post-modern literature unit. My intention with the lesson is to provide a brief overview of the major elements that comprise Post-modern Literature. I felt that the best way to get students to understand these complicated components would be to look at movie trailers for films that demonstrate each of those unique qualities. As such, this presentation gives an overview of the term "postmodern" (as well as some foundational definitions) and its major characteristics. Then, the latter half of the presentation provides YouTube videos of trailers for various films.
