Product Description
This lesson introduces the idea of dehumanization and specifies how this process manifests itself throughout history and modern society. It touches on how the dehumanization process degrades both the groups targeted as well as those who consider themselves superior. It highlights different historical examples of dehumanization and touches on how these processes are still very much at work in our world today. It stresses that the process is reversible and that re-humanization focuses on the commonalities of individual humans. It mentions famous historical examples of people who have taught a philosophy of re-humanization and provides numerous sources related to both the problem of dehumanization and possible solutions. The lesson also includes essential questions and links to all materials referenced. The teacher is free to modify it in any manner that facilitates its use in the classroom.
