Product Description
This introductory lesson gives insight into industrialization and the changes it brought by incorporating various activities and sources. The download includes three files.

The first file is a discussion packet. The class will watch two video clips and analyze two pictures relevant to industrialization and its effects. Students will complete the packet by analyzing the sources and sharing their answers through class discussion. The directions provide helpful steps to analyze the sources: first observe what you see to use as evidence for later, and then to interpret that evidence in relation to the context of industrialization and its effects. There is also an example provided to help students understand what they should be doing.

The second file is an attachment of an excerpt from the 1897 Sears Roebuck & Co. Catalog. This is used as the final picture for analysis and discussion.

The third file is a teacher "cheat sheet." This sheet goes over the key takeaways and main idea of each video and picture. It includes time stamps for the videos, specific objects in the pictures, and how those items relate to industrialization's effects.

The title of the video clips is included, as well as the pictures. If you have trouble finding the videos, the links below will take you directly to them.
