Article Summary: “Off the Beaten Path”
"Beyond Mount Fuji: Off the Beaten Path in Japan" was a writing project that I participated in after completing the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET). I had the good fortune to have two travel articles accepted about my travels to Okinawa, the southernmost part of Japan and Aichi, Central Japan. My contributions celebrated its "Decennial" in September 2017. While it is unknown how many travelers have read these articles (there are ten travel articles in total submitted by other JET alumnus), the fact that they have been on the Japan Consulate of Atlanta's website for the past decade is a testament to the uniqueness of Japan and its off the beaten locations.

I have used it in individual lessons, small groups, and large classroom settings and found it to be a very flexible and useful resource. It is recommended that a minimum of 45 minutes is allowed to cover this lesson, however, extending this lesson to two 45-minute lessons might be necessary to process the vocabulary, cover the higher forms of thinking provided by the comprehension questions.
