CREATED WITH POWERPOINT 2010
This presentation is 53 slides discussing the differences between the Democratic and the Republican parties. There is an initial side by side comparison which points out basic differences or similarities in economic policy, social policy, stance on military, gay marriage, abortion, death penalty, taxes government regulation, healthcare, and immigration. Slides continue with information about the leaders of the parties, famous presidents, and senate and house numbers. There are a few slides discussing the history of each party and their general philosophies. There is an illustration of the “political spectrum.” More detailed discussions follow and include these topics: individual and community, controversial issues such as military, gun control, abortion, gay rights, death penalty, taxes, minimum wage, role of the government (using examples of EPA and Food Stamps), foreign policy (including an overview of President Obama’s foreign policy with allies in the Middle East and with Cuba), civil rights, and voter ID laws. Finally there are graphs that illustrate partisan advantage by age, gender, race, and level of education. There are over 50 graphics, 11 charts, 2 maps, and 7 relevant political cartoons. This is a thorough and unbiased presentation that can be used to scaffold a more intense study or used as a mini-lesson. I use large, clear font and appealing format. Have a look at my presentation on the Electoral College also. Thank you for your consideration.
