Product Description
Please enjoy this FREEBIE!

For this activity, students will have to look at various professional team names and write about the denotation and connotation of the name.

For example, they would look at the logo for the Pittsburgh Pirates. First they would look up the word "pirate" in a dictionary and record the definition under the denotation column. Next, in their own words, they would write down the emotional feeling behind the name "Pirates".

For the second portion of the activity, students have to create their own team, including a name and logo, and write about the denotation/connotation behind the name.

Enjoy!
