This mini unit helps students explore the impact connotation has on communication. They will learn the difference between denotation and connotation, explore an essay using SOAPSTone, close reading and discussion to identify and analyze how connotative language elicits pathos in an audience. It is applicable to upper high school classes, including AP Language (which is where I teach it).
