4 ACTIVITIES IN ONE PRODUCT!
Making science fun is a great way to get students engaged in their own learning and discovery. Included in this product is 4 AMAZING activities to help your students to gain a deeper understanding of what density is and how it is impacted by mass and volume.
Included in this product:
1) "Whatever Floats Your Boat" STEM Activity--
Students will create a boat from one sheet of aluminum foil and test it in a tub of water. Each group will add pennies to their boat to test how added mass impacts the boats buoyancy. This is a great way to peak student’s curiosity and incorporate engineering and mathematics into science.
2) Density Tower--
This activity is a great way to get students engaged and intrigued. The teacher will use several different liquids with different densities to create a layered tower. Students will make predictions as to how the liquids will layer up and record their results.
3) Density Experiment--
During this lab, students will follow the scientific method to investigate which types of canned soda will float in water. Students love looking at the ingredients and making predictions as to which drinks will float.
4) What is Density?-Reading Comprehension--
This reading passage gives students some background knowledge on density. There are four written response questions at the end that can be used as homework or as classwork. I use this for students to research before they start their lab.
