Mission: Construct a miniature submarine. Your submarine should sink and touch the bottom …. AND rise to the top again!
This activity starts with the phenomena of baking powder powered toy submarines. Students investigate and do on-line research to determine how and why the toy operates.
Over the next two days students, working in groups, will recreate the toy submarine using film canisters and antacid tablets; all the while calculating the density of floating and sinking objects.
