Please note that this product is also part of the Density Activities Bundle
Try this engaging digital review activity after teaching your students how to manipulate the density formula (d = m/v) to find the density, the mass, or the volume of an object or substance. This is a worksheet alternative as students will calculate answers and input numerical answers and units into a spreadsheet that reveals a magic picture with correct answers. I suggest requiring the students to write their work on a separate sheet of paper while they complete this digital activity. This way, you can have them write the formula that they used, the numbers that they plugged into the formula, and the answer with the correct units. This will also help the students to find their own mistakes if the magic picture does not appear for any of their answers! I teach my students to use the ‘density triangle’ to help them to manipulate the formula.
To do this activity, you will share a Google Sheets link with your students that will allow them to Make A Copy of their own Magic Pixel Picture activity. They will calculate the answers for |5 different density questions and type their answers into the numerical answer column. They will also need to choose the correct unit from the drop-down menu. If both the answer and unit are correct, color will magically appear in the cells on the right-hand side of the spreadsheet. If the answer and/or unit is incorrect, the color will not appear and the student will know that the answer and/or the unit is wrong. This Magic Pixel Picture is a baby dinosaur!
This is a self-checking activity, so have students show you their finished picture to check that they are successfully manipulating the density formula! I have also included a link to the Answer Key for the activity, which you will also be able to add to your Drive.
