This is a Think Tank that covers density using an observation graphic organizer.
There is the teacher info sheet (with a link to the reading resource I use in class if available) that includes TEKS covered, skill to focus on, teacher instructions and materials needed, followed by the student instruction page (2 versions: one with the reading typed in and one blank so you can fill in what you want them to read.) and any graphic organizers or other needed pages.
These are designed to take 3-4 45-60 minute sessions to complete in groups of 2-4 students. We use them as activities for the majority of the class as the teacher is facilitating a small group. They are designed to be student led without any teacher interaction during this time. I wrote them with specific reading in mind, but they work with any reading that centers around the skill to focus on. Each think tank follows the same path: read, recall, create and extend. I like to keep all the supplies in a tub for each think tank so students can easily pull them out and use them.
