As I taught composing and decomposing numbers to my kindergarteners, I realized I needed some fun ways to give them some extra practice. We were also trying to incorporate dental health themes into our centers, so I came up with this idea.
This activity may be used in many ways. Here are just a few:
- Students pair up equation pairs (practicing the commutative property) and write the pairs on the record sheet.
- Students select ONE card and create it's pair themselves, recording the pairs on the record sheet (with or without the symbols).
- Students find all number combinations that equal a particular sum. I have created different record sheet for this activity, which can be found in my store, called How Many Ways Can You Make 1-10.
I'm sure there are many other ways to use these cards. That's what I love about TpT - there's never a shortage of inspiration!
Watch for this activity with many different seasonal themes, in my teacher store coming soon!
