Math Centers

K.OA.A.1

Version 1: Students use the picture addition cards placed around the room. They find one and add the pictures together. On the recording sheet, they find the matching picture and write the sum.

Version 2: Students use the picture addition cards placed around the room. They find one and add the pictures together. On the recording sheet, they find the matching picture and write the addition sentence.

Dental Decomposing – a differentiated decomposing activity
K.OA.A3

Version 1: Students choose a decomposing tooth card and find the missing part on a tooth. On the recording sheet, find the matching letters and fill in the numerals.

Version 2: Students choose a decomposing tooth card and use two tooth cards to show the number in two parts. On the recording sheet, find the matching letters and fill in the numerals.

Floss Fluency – a differentiated fact fluency
K.OA.A5

Version 1: Students use a paper tooth spinner with a pencil and a paper clip to spin a number. On the recording sheet they color a tooth with a subtraction sentence that’s answer is the number spun.

Version 2: Students use a paper tooth spinner with a pencil and a paper clip to spin a number. On the recording sheet they color a tooth with a addition sentence that’s answer is the number spun.

Mouthy Tens – a differentiated set making activity
K.OA.A.1, K.OA.A.4

Version 1: Make sets to 10. Students choose a mouth card and count how many teeth are inside. On the recording sheet, match the letter on the card and fill in the numbers of the set on ___ and ___ is 10.

Version 2: Make sets to 5. Students choose a mouth card and count how many teeth are inside. On the recording sheet, match the letter on the card and fill in the numbers of the set on ___ and ___ is 5.

Toothbrush Tallies – a differentiated tally marks activity.
K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5

Version 1: Students choose a dentist card and read the number. Once they know how many, they find the matching toothbrush tallies card. Then they match the letter on the card to a box on the recording sheet. There they draw the correct number of tally marks.

Version 2: Students choose a dentist card and read the number. Once they know how many, they use the toothbrush tally cards to build the correct number of tally marks. Then they match the letter on the card to a box on the recording sheet. There they draw the correct number of tally marks.
