Literacy Centers


Dental Write the Room – a differentiated write the room activity
RF.K.1b, L.K.1a

Version 1: Students look for dental word cards around the classroom. When they find one, they match the picture on the recording sheet and trace the word.

Mouthwash Syllables – a differentiated syllable activity
RF.K.2b

Version 1: Students sort the mouthwash cup cards below the mouthwash cards according to how many syllables the picture has. One, two, three, and four syllable words included. On the recording sheet, students color the pictures from the mouthwash cups according to the number of syllables, following the code provided.

Smiling Families – a differentiated word family activity
RF.K.2a, RF.K.2d, RFK.3d

Version 1: Students sort the word family picture teeth below the dentist word family cards. On the recording sheet, students color the tooth the color of the toothbrush on the dentist word family card.

Version 2: Students sort the word family word teeth below the dentist word family cards. On the recording sheet, students color the tooth the color of the toothbrush on the dentist word family card.

Toothbrush Sentences – a differentiated sentence activity
RF.K.1a, RF.K.3c

Version 1: Students unscramble the color coded toothbrush word cards to build a sentence. They color the toothbrush on the recording sheet the color of the toothbrush on the cards and write the formed sentence.

Version2: Students unscramble the color coded toothbrush multi-word cards to build a sentence. They color the toothbrush on the recording sheet the color of the toothbrush on the cards and write the formed sentence.


Toothy CVC – a differentiated CVC activity
RF.K.2d

Version 1: Students choose a tooth CVC word card. Then they find a tooth card with the matching picture on it. On the recording sheet they find the word, write it, and color the matching picture from the set.

Version 2: Students choose a tooth CVC picture card. Then they find the tooth cards with the correct letters on it to build the CVC word. On the recording sheet they find the word, write it, and color the matching picture from the set.


Math Centers

Add the Room – a differentiated addition activity
K.OA.A.1

Version 1: Students use the picture addition cards placed around the room. They find one and add the pictures together. On the recording sheet, they find the matching picture and write the sum.

Version 2: Students use the picture addition cards placed around the room. They find one and add the pictures together. On the recording sheet, they find the matching picture and write the addition sentence.


Dental Decomposing – a differentiated decomposing activity
K.OA.A3

Version 1: Students choose a decomposing tooth card and find the missing part on a tooth. On the recording sheet, find the matching letters and fill in the numerals.

Version 2: Students choose a decomposing tooth card and use two tooth cards to show the number in two parts. On the recording sheet, find the matching letters and fill in the numerals.

Floss Fluency – a differentiated fact fluency
K.OA.A5

Version 1: Students use a paper tooth spinner with a pencil and a paper clip to spin a number. On the recording sheet they color a tooth with a subtraction sentence that’s answer is the number spun.

Version 2: Students use a paper tooth spinner with a pencil and a paper clip to spin a number. On the recording sheet they color a tooth with a addition sentence that’s answer is the number spun.

Mouthy Tens – a differentiated set making activity
K.OA.A.1, K.OA.A.4

Version 1: Make sets to 10. Students choose a mouth card and count how many teeth are inside. On the recording sheet, match the letter on the card and fill in the numbers of the set on ___ and ___ is 10.

Version 2: Make sets to 5. Students choose a mouth card and count how many teeth are inside. On the recording sheet, match the letter on the card and fill in the numbers of the set on ___ and ___ is 5.


Toothbrush Tallies – a differentiated tally marks activity.
K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5

Version 1: Students choose a dentist card and read the number. Once they know how many, they find the matching toothbrush tallies card. Then they match the letter on the card to a box on the recording sheet. There they draw the correct number of tally marks.

Version 2: Students choose a dentist card and read the number. Once they know how many, they use the toothbrush tally cards to build the correct number of tally marks. Then they match the letter on the card to a box on the recording sheet. There they draw the correct number of tally marks.
