This elementary school counseling small group counseling curriculum is designed for upper elementary aged students dealing with the deployment of a military loved one. The group spans over 10 sessions and focuses on the following:
• Creating a safe space to discuss feelings relating to deployment
• Discussing personal experiences of being a military child
• Learning about locus of control and identify things that we can and cannot control
• Identifying supports in the family, school, and community
• Practicing anxiety management techniques
• Promoting supportive relationships within the group
The bundle includes group rationale, consent form, counselor passes, 10 lesson plans, session objectives assessment checklist, all required handouts, and all required visual aids. Lesson plans include session description, objectives, outline (including welcome, explanation, activity, process questions, and wrap-up), session materials list, and ASCA standards alignment.
