Students will complete 10 questions on derivatives using power, product, chain, quotient rules, as well as the derivatives of y = sinx and y= cosx. Each question will send students to one of four questions. By choosing the correct path, students will complete all 10 questions. If students make a mistake, they will end up back at a question they have already solved, and will then have to determine where they made their mistake to get back on track.
The word document has 10 pages, each of which can be printed (and laminated?) and placed around the room in random order. Students may start at any page. When finished, they can report simply the order in which they solved the puzzle to determine if they have the correct answers. The document file does not have fully written out solutions of the derivative, but is in order of solution, so #1 is page 1, #4 is page 2 as it is the solution to #1...etc.
This activity works very well as a review of the rules prior to an assessment.
