This lesson was created for children to work on their expressive vocabulary and formulating sentences. It includes real pictures I took that the children can describe. This is a great activity for kids to learn about fall and to have fun creating their own scarecrow and jack-O-lantern. They can describe what they think of when they hear the word fall and depending on their skill level you can make them say each description in a complete sentence. Then the kids can describe what aspects they would need for a scarecrow and jack-O-lantern. They can then be creative and draw/color their own. You can also bring in leaves, pinecones, and acorns and have the children feel the objects and describe them. I did this with my kids and they loved the interaction aspect of the activity! This would be a good activity to accompany a book about fall so they can talk about what they heard in the book.
