Are your students often described as hands-on or multisensory learners?
Mine are too. I love that interactive Language Sticks can be incorporated into a mixed group activity or used on their own. Students are able to interact with the Language Sticks, adorning them with clothespins, playdough, beans, small rocks, etc. It helps bring controlled choices into your therapy room as students can choose their sticks/manipulatives/reinforcement yet you provide the foundational materials that target their goals (i.e., describing sticks). It is a win-win.
Do you feel like you spend the majority of your time taking data and less time really instructing students on the targeted skill?
I did. We live in a data driven world. I needed to find a balance between obtaining the data needed to support my students’ goals and instructing them how to improve the actual skill. I felt most of my time was spent assessing what they did not know with minimal instruction to teach those skills. Language Sticks allow me to instruct my students in a systematic manner with a direct correlation to application of learned skills.
