“The Elephant’s Child,” from Just So Stories* provides practice in describing characters. To fulfill Common Core State Standard RL.4.3, students construct thorough responses by locating evidence, writing a topic sentence that describes the character, adding detail sentences, citing, and writing a conclusion.
