What educators are saying

This is a great resource to target describing skills. It is clear and organized and provides multiple opportunities for practice.
Fun way to work on describing activities. To change it up, I print it in black and white and let the students make up their own descriptions.

Description

Do you wish your speech therapy students had more success with defining and describing objects and pictures?

Maybe you've tried a variety of worksheets and activities, but you aren't seeing much progress.

As an SLP, I also know the importance of teaching describing skills, but I needed an activity that would really start at the beginning. That's why I decided to create this resource that would allow me to teach basic describing skills in a clear, organized, structured way.

This resource provides a predictable format to teach basic category and attributes to your students.

Each task card contains a picture and sentence starters. Your student will need to fill in the blanks and identify what category the object is in, the object function (what it does, or what we do with it), and then provide some information about the appearance (the color of the object or picture). Once the task card is filled in, you can review it and work on defining skills.

Wondering what this activity will bring to your speech therapy room? Check out what these other SLPs had to say about this resource:

"I love this resource! It provides a structured way to teach basic describing skills. After filling in the blank for each description I ask the child to formulate their own descriptive sentences. It can be a few simple sentences or a complex one depending on ability. For example: "Pigs are pink farm animals that say oink." This product is an excellent way to scaffold description and sentence formulation." - Marti F.

"This resource has been great for the *many* learners on my caseload who are working on vocabulary skills with describing, naming, etc. It’s useful for different age/grade levels and has great visual support. Thanks for this resource!" -Nicole S.

"This is a great resource to target describing skills. It is clear and organized and provides multiple opportunities for practice." -Marissa T.

"I really love using this resource! The colorful pictures and predictable format for responses helped my students organize their thoughts when describing!" -Susan S.
