This product includes everything you need to teach descriptive writing to 4th, 5th, or 6th graders!
This lesson includes: 9 PowerPoint slides, 3 pages of student handouts/worksheets, and a 3 page detailed lesson plan (60 minute duration).
Throughout this lesson, students will explore what makes an effective piece of descriptive writing by evaluating two different descriptive paragraphs displayed on the board. Students will use their evaluations to discuss the success criteria for effective descriptive writing. Using this criteria, students will describe a setting or an interesting character. Finally, students will peer-assess the work of a friend in the class.
This is a fantastic lesson to use to prepare for any creative writing assignment or unit on narrative writing.
