The Common Core Standards state that students must be writing sensory descriptions of people, places, and things. These lessons provide practice in descriptive writing and using the five-senses.
First, students will work in cooperative groups to describe a place using sensory words and their 5-senses. Then, they will progress to being able to describe on their own and turn it into a well-developed sensory-descriptive paragraph. This type of writing is important when writing narratives.
