A multi-modal activity where students produce a writing sample using adjectives based on what their 5 senses tell them. Use this as an activity to introduce/reintroduce your students to the practice of using colorful adjectives in their writing based on the 5 senses.
This was an activity I came up with to teach 2nd-graders what adjectives were. I adapted it for upper elementary students in an attempt to get my students to write using types of sensory/descriptive words other than that of color (red, orange, black, etc.) and size (big, tall, small, etc.).
I used potato chips, but you can substitute anything you'd like.
Warning! This tends to get messy. Allot sufficient time for cleanup.
