Product Description

Welcome to the FOOD TRUCK business! More and more food trucks are high priorities in the eating and dining out world. Whether a lunch crowd or a spot by a concert, food trucks are in high demand. Plus, the food isn’t just good...it’s great. Now students can create their their own business and menu!

Design A Food Truck is a project based learning activity that integrates elements of math, art, STEM, and ELA skills as students plan and design a food truck from creating the menus to designing the trucks. Students will create and control all aspects of this project.

Students may need to have access to a variety of resources to complete this PBL. This could include maps, internet access, and laptops/computers/devices. There are over 13 activities (most are 1 page each) for students to complete. Each page involves an issue or topic they must solve, design, create, or research.

As students work through each page, they will make their own decisions and choose the outcomes based on information they learn. By the end, all students will have completed the project, but each version will be based on the creator’s imagination, creativity, and knowledge base.

Students learn they will be creating a food truck.

9 Planning It Out

Students answer questions pertaining to their food trucks and why they are important.

10 Brainstorm

Students brainstorm everything they know about food trucks and fast food.

11 Vocabulary

Students write definitions or draw illustrations of 16 different vocabulary words about the food truck business.

13 Start Up

Students create a business name, logo, and begin early designs for their truck.

16 Making the menu

Students read the instructions for creating their menus.

18 BRAINSTORM

List food options that could be on your menu by collaborating with classmates, researching, or finding some unique foods to add.

19 Pick the Menu

Make your final food decisions and begin creating your menu with the four key areas. Include prices for every single item.

21 BUILDING Meals

Students will be creating three different meals and finding the total cost of each.

22 Combo Platter

Create two combo meals. These meals will each have at least EIGHT items. Give them a name and find their total price.

23 Taking Orders

Classmates will stop by individual students’ food truck menus and place an order. Then students will need to find the total price for the meal they ordered.

31 Design the Menu

OPTIONAL: Design a menu with EVERY SINGLE ITEM on it (with prices). Students may use the provided papers or create your own version.

37 Design the truck

Students create interior and exterior designs of their food truck.
