The following document is an overview of what I call ‘design challenges’ for students in grades 6th grade to college. The challenge demonstrates student collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving. All are 21st century skills. The challenges can be as few as 15 students to as many as 400 students. When I first did this challenge, it was for 400 students and I rolled out the challenge school-wide in Advisory. It was a great culture builder, spoke to our Project-Based curriculum, and employed a healthy competition. Students whom were normally apathetic felt a great sense of ownership.
