This cut and paste activity helps students explore the arachnid body plan by allowing them to create a arachnid of their own using different arachnid parts. Students will look at spiders, scorpions, vinegaroons, solfugids, and amblypygids and compare their body parts and what they do.
From this activity, students will gain a better understanding of:
-the characteristics common to all arachnids
-variation in animal structures and how structure relates to function
-aspects of the scientific method, including observation and hypothesis creation
