This is a single activity from the Designing Your Own Exploration and it will help your students learn how to design their own investigations. Give students a scenario. Give them a list of material they can choose from, model how to write a procedure, how to create a chart to collect data, and write a conclusion about their results or findings that they will present to their peers.
It is NGSS aligned. This investigation can be used for upper elementary, middle school students, and beginning high school levels.
It is important for students to learn how to design their own investigations and explorations. The Engineering and Crosscutting NGSS Standards are applied in designing investigations.
