This activity is intended as a culminating project following a lesson on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. This project would be appropriate for a high school Psychology course or Social Studies course. I use this project with my Social Studies students as a culminating project after watching the documentary film, "The Bad Kids" (currently on Netflix).
This product contains two activities.
In this exercise students will connect what they've learned about Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs to education. Using their high school as a case study or a high school from a film such as “Stand and Deliver” or “Lean on Me,” they will complete a graphic organizer based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
This is a multi-step activity. Step I: Using their understanding of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, plan and design a high school/campus that meets the needs of students at all five tiers of Maslow’s hierarchy. Step II: Using graph paper or a website such as https://floorplanner.com/, design a school/campus that incorporates the supports the components listed in step one of the exercise. Step III: Essay.
This product includes both "The Bad Kids" Film Guide AND Design a School Project:
