Designing a Seed Packet is certainly a way to get imaginations SPROUTING.
This lesson plan is ideal for linking to spring topics, and has Science and ELA connections, new vocabulary, and challenging spelling words. Students will begin by creating their own unique and original flower name and image. They will be introduced to commercial art and graphic design by observing and discussing product package designs and common elements of design in seed packaging.
Step-by-step instructions are supported by samples, photos of student outcomes, bulletin board ideas, and a suggested extension or follow-up activity. A rubric is included with classification categories described as “seedling, sprouting, budding and blooming.”
