This STEM project is a fun, creative, hands-on way to help teach the concepts of area, perimeter, design, and scale models. Students will love designing their own swimming pool with the largest area they can, given their limited materials of 24 Q-Tips. They will then add ‘fun features’ to their pools, calculating the area first. In the end, students will recognize their pool design as a scale model and calculate the size of its perimeter and area in real life. Perfect for 3rd and 4th graders needing a challenge and application of classroom learning!
