Students will put their geometry and problem solving skills to the ultimate test as they design their zoo. Students are "given" $2,000,000, a purchase order, and a list of 2 pages of animals from which to choose. They have to stay within budget and within their space availability. Once they choose their animals and get their purchase order approved, they start designing, making sure to include the perimeter and area of their enclosures.
Included in the 11-pages are the directions for what to do within the project, purchase order, detailed directions for the student (or teacher if the teacher chooses to not give the directions to the student) for how to fill out the purchase order, 2 pages of animals from which to choose, rubric for grading, checklist for students to make sure they have all parts when they are ready to turn in the project, a way to modify the project for students who need modifications, and extensive notes for the teacher about how to implement, including how to get a spreadsheet that can be used to quickly and easily check your students work on their purchase orders.
