Looking for a fun way to assess your students understanding of their Astronomy Unit and space exploration activities? I used this as a culminating individual project for our space unit. I completed it in science class, but it encompasses art, language arts, math and science concepts!
Students create an alien based on a planet they choose. The students apply the information they have learned about the planet and often have to research more to explain how life exists on that planet. Their knowledge of the planet is shown through the characteristics and features their aliens possess.
Teachers can modify the project to allow students to draw their alien, construct their alien using clay, paper or other materials. Aliens can meet each other on the due date and students can learn about all the planets. This was one of my students favorite projects.
