I designed it to use with my third grade students, however, this lesson could easily be adapted for higher grade levels with some of the optional components.
The lesson is an interdisciplinary lesson encompassing Language Arts (Writing), Social Studies (Maps, Land Forms. and Water Forms), and Science (Ecosystems and Weather)
In this lesson students will practice the following skills:
Social Studies/ Science
Identifying, Defining, and Drawing Land and Water Forms
• Reading a Map
• Identifying, Defining, and Creating Map Features
o Compass Rose
• Identifying Weather Patterns Based on World Location
• Identifying Ecosystems Based on World Location
• Identifying Animals and Plants Found in Ecosystems
• Identifying Hemispheres
The lesson includes worksheets for practice with a rubric for grading, a rubric for a poster project, and a lesson and rubric for a writing assignment focusing on Narrative Writing.
