Students will love this classifying activity!

Warm Up: Students classify shoes that are being worn in the classroom! They will first create a flow chart and then construct a dichotomous key to lead the reader to the correct shoe. An example is provided.

Activity: Students classify different types of chips (cheese doodles, pretzels etc.) First they will create a flow chart to organize their ideas , then turn the flow chart into an organized dichotomous key.

This activity can be differentiated into 2 groups and the worksheets are provided.
-level 1 organizes 6 chips
-level 2 organizes 10 chips

The types of chips that work well for this activity are listed and an example of how to complete the dichotomous key is included.

**Student copy includes all worksheets needed to perform both activities.
