Desk Doodle Cards- This is a set of 8 different desk doodle starters. Each page contains six of the same designs so that you can cut them out and tape them on your student’s desk. If you have students like mine, it never fails at the end of the week there are pencil drawings all over your desks! How do you stop kids from drawing on your desks? If you ask them to stop it only seems to get worse. At the beginning of the year, I noticed that my student name cards seemed to have lots of doodles on them but that there were no pencil markings on the desks themselves. As the year went on and I learned student names, I removed their name cards and then the desk drawings started to appear again. My solution was to leave something on their desk where doodles were always permitted and loved. In fact, I have saved some of the good ones and have them framed on my desk. Note: I change mine out every 2-3 or as they get filled up.
This approach has not only helped keep my desks clean but I have also noticed that some of my trouble students (the math haters) also seem more focused. My students with ADHD can doodle without consequences while they wait for others to finish writing notes. Students who need brain breaks can also take a moment out to doodle.
As a high school teacher, it is also fun to watch the collaboration on the doodles from one class to another. Many students have no idea who sits in their seat during the next class period. So when they start adding to a doodle, the next student might add to it and take it in a completely different direction.
I hope this product works for your classroom as well as it did in mine.
