Getting details into writing is something many young writers struggle to do. This series of 8 PowerPoint lessons from The Writing Diner will help students use details to pump life into their writing. Students will learn how to incorporate their senses into their writing, use similes, as well as snapshots and thoughtshots, and will learn what it means to explode an important moment in a piece of writing. Each lesson contains a writing example for teachers to model the focus of each lesson. The lessons are explicit and straightforward. They will help students to become active thinkers while they are independently writing.
