This is similar to the idea of a “read the room” or “write the room” center. Students will attach my teacher-created charts to a clipboard, and search the classroom walls for something specific, depending on the phonics skill you choose. It may be a focus on a letter, word, digraph, blend, etc. Let them use special pens to make it fun! After the students search and write down the words, they may choose to do an extra activity with their list. (Write sentences, rainbow tracing, etc.) Allow students to carry plastic magnifying glasses with them as they search for words, to add some more fun to this center!
