Use your inferencing skills to become a master detective!
This product has activities that focus on inferencing through visual or auditory clues and task cards. The activities included are:
What am I?- Place the pictures on the table and read each “what am I?” question. Have students make an inference and guess which clue matches which picture until all clues are solved.
Where am I?- Look at the 3 pictures on the card and infer where you would be if you were with or using these objects.
What are they saying?- Look at the character in the picture and think about what they are saying. Use their body, faces, clothes and objects to help you answer.
What will happen next?- Look at the character in the picture and think about what they could be doing and predict what will happen next. Use their body, faces, clothes and objects to help you answer.
Guess the non-sense word- Read or listen to the paragraph and emphasise the non-sense word highlighted. Think about what the non-sense word means based on other words in the paragraph and the context of the paragraph.
Why did it happen?- Read or listen to the sentence. Think about “why” the event happened and answer the question by choosing from the 3 options/answer given.
What would happen if?- Read or listen to the scenario and predict what would happen as a consequence of the event. Think of 2-3 things that would change/happen because of the event.
Each activity has a poster to prompt students how to use their eyes, ears, thinking etc. to answer the question type and make an inference. Once students have worked on all activities there is a completion certificate to reward them on becoming as master detective!
