Your little detectives will have fun solving mysteries while they are secretly learning math skills! This packet includes four games that will enhance the following math skills:
Counting by ones
Simple addition (with picture cues)
Simple addition story problems
2-D shape identification
Using tally marks
Logic and deductive reasoning
The games include:
*”Mystery Map”- In this game, the students follow the footsteps on a map to solve a mystery. The game allows you to differentiate learning with three different levels of play.
*”The Lost Kitten”- This is a shape-matching board game in which the children follow a path to find and rescue a lost cat.
*”Who Stole the Cookie?”- This is a logic game with five different mysteries for the students to solve. Each mystery gives clues so that the students can use deductive reasoning to eliminate suspects and discover who took the cookie from the bakery.
*”Detective Notebook"- Children use the detective's notebook to record how many mystery items they find around their classroom or school. They will use tally marks to keep track of their count. (8 different notebook pages are included so students can do this activity multiple times with different mystery items.)
