Not all questions are created equal! Different types of comprehension questions require different strategies to answer.
Developing readers can often manage low level, factual questions when the answers appear in the text in straight forward, direct language. But developing readers can get lost and frustrated when the questions are more complex.
Detective Reading which helps students to recognize three different types of questions and practice formulating answers: 1) Recall questions. 2) Inference questions that require a reader to piece together clues. 3) Opinion questions that require connecting personal knowledge with reading material.
Strategy cards to help students recognize the three types of questions and learn how to answer them. The Strategy cards are available for FREE in my store and can be used with a wide variety of reading material.
This packet includes 6 original short stories – each story has 6 questions – 2 of each type. Answer key is provided.
