Determinants Matrices Dots and Boxes Engaging Fun Game
This fun activity is designed for first semester Algebra 2 and PreCalculus. High School students, as sophisticated as they believe they are, still love playing dots and boxes. This is the game where they take turns drawing lines to close or capture a box. In this version, each of the 16 boxes box has a determinant in it. There are both 2x2 and 3x3 determinants. When they capture the box, they must find the value of the determinant. They record the values on their recording sheet and when all the boxed are captured, add their points to see who wins. Lots of strategies built in, as some values are negative. Calculators are at your discretion.
Great practice and lots of fun! Answer key included.
