This Common Core reading informational text lesson asks sudents to determine two or more central ideas of a text and analyze their development over the course of the text. In this lesson, students will determine the central ideas on one topic in one text. Then, they will identify supporting details (reasons, examples, facts) for each central idea and analyze the topic's development. "Main Idea" and "Central Idea" are interchangeable in this lesson, as well as "Key" vs "Main" details. In addition to the lesson, there are numerous pages of Independent Practice and review with questions modeled after the Common Core assessment items.
