After teaching about the different types of energy, this activity helps students understand how many types of energy common things use. Place each write-up at a station (and the object if possible) Students read how each object works and determines what types of energy each object uses. They then explain how that energy is used. This is a great introduction to an energy transformation lesson.
There are 10 stations: battery, microwave, retractable pen, digital camera, cell phone, solar panel, doorbell, staple gun, flashlight, and electric motor with pictures and information at each station (the actual object is NOT necessary).
They types of energy they have to choose from include: Light, Sound, Mechanical, Electromagnetic, Heat, Electrical, Chemical and Elastic
