These lesson plans include all of the components and are written in the workshop model. The primary standard that is focused on is determining the author's message. Speaking and listening standards are also strongly reinforced. The two lesson plans include the fables The Ant and the Dove and The Lion and the Lost Meal, which you can print out or put on the interactive white board. There is an example of an anchor chart that prompts student discussions, and materials to create your own. In addition, these lessons begin with puppets acting out skits to get the students to do the thinking they will need to do to address the aim. The puppets also give the students something to connect the learning to. There are templates to make the puppets for the second lesson. There are also links to a website that has the fables to be used during the teaching portion. These fables are also in the plan for teachers to print out if they don't have interactive whiteboards. Each lesson includes a link portion in which students are reading various fables with their partners or groups, and responding using a fable response sheet-which you can use to assess their thinking. All fables are there for you to print and reproduce for student use. I also included student outcomes and a chart created to display the work after the lessons were taught.
