Determining Importance in both non-fiction and fiction!

This lesson has 46 slides and 79 printable pages attached. One PDF attachment is an All About Nonfiction Conventions Student Booklet51 pages, illustrated with examples of non-fiction conventions, a game, pocket chart cards, student work pages, and bookmarks for each convention for student use while reading.
The other printable is 28 pages DETERMINING IMPORTANCE IN READING with work pages, graphic organizers, and student and teacher rubrics.
Questions are asked about determining importance in fiction, with links to online public domain stories including BLACK BEAUTY, HEIDI, and GULLIVER'S TRAVELS.
Complete reading of online text examples is not required, as questions focus on a few lines of text for each story.
