I focus my reading instruction on a wonderful book called "Comprehension Connections". Based on this book, Tanny McGregor tells us that students should be effectively using reading strategies while reading.
There are 7 major strategies: metacognition, schema, inferring, determining importance, questioning, visualizing, and synthesizing. This poster focuses on determining importance. We review each thinking stem, then hang it around the room to remind us of how to start when we are recording our thinking. :)
Her wonderful activities inspired these bookmarks, and I highly recommend you buy her book if you are intrigued by these! :)
